University of Richmond

Courses

Coursework requirements for each dual degree program vary from one partner institution to another.  That’s why it’s important to speak with the engineering dual degree advisor or the environmental studies advisor early in your academic career.

Some requirements are universal. All pre-engineering students should expect to take:

  • All general education requirements
  • English 103, which must be completed for all engineering programs even if Richmond waived the requirement
  • Mathematics 211, 212, 235, 240 and 245
  • Physics 131-132 and chemistry 141 and 317
  • At least 90 total hours of coursework at Richmond

Students who want to attend Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment should plan to take:

  • One semester of ecology
  • One semester of microeconomics
  • One semester of statistics
  • One course in GIS

Whenever possible, all students should also try to secure at least one internship in a related field.
